TOUR OF REMODELED HOMES

by Martha Wolford on 08/06/14

From Business First:

by

The 46th annual Homearama showcase of homes just closed on Sunday where home building and decorating ideas were on display. Next up is a chance to get some building and decor inspiration at remodeled homes in the Louisville area.

The Building Industry Association of Greater Louisville, which hosted Homearama in Shakes Run from July 12 through July 27, will host the 29th annual Tour of Remodeled Homes on Saturday, Aug. 9 and Sunday, Aug. 10.

The Tour of Remodeled Homes will feature 11 remodeling projects in homes in Old Louisville, Crescent Hill and the East End.

All of the projects were completed by registered remodelers who are members of the Building Industry Association of Greater Louisville, said Tara Brinkmoeller, vice president of public affairs and communication with the building industry association.

"It's a way that our registered remodelers use to market themselves and showcase their craftsmanship," she said.

Changes to the homes that are featured in the tour include remodels of kitchens, bedrooms, bathrooms, historical preservation, additions and whole-house remodels.

"You are showcasing how you can transform an existing structure into something new," Brinkmoeller said of the remodeling showcase.

Details on the renovations to each home are available in the Tour of Remodeled Homestour guide.

Brinkmoeller said the number of homes participating in this year's event is on par with most year, with about 10 to 15 properties usually featured.

Although the tour has more homes than Homerama, the crowds are not as large as thosedrawn by Homearama.

Brinkmoeller said that because the residences are not all on one site, "you just can't accommodate as many people as you would for a single-site home show like you do for Homearama.

SIGNATURE HOMES UPDATE

by Martha Wolford on 05/31/14

We have had an amazing response to our 40th Anniversary project: The Masterpiece Collection of Signature Homes.  We are moving forward with the design phase of several homes and only have room for only one more! In our next blog/press release we will reveal the neighborhoods and addresses of our lucky new homeowners who will receive much added value to their new homes.

The 1st Sneak Peak of a Wolford Masterpiece Collection Home is coming up!

Dates

Sunday, July 27, 2-5 pm, Hosted by Rick Walters of Canfield Realty

Address

5704 Harrods Glen Drive, Prospect, KY 40059

Homeowner Dr. and Tasnim Khan

The clients came to us through an Open House of our model home. They had learned that Ron had built over 500 homes and wanted to rely on Rons expertise as Louisvilles premier luxury custom home builder. After touring several Wolford Built Homes, they selected a floor plan that they liked and made specific customization, such as a grander entrance and increased size, specifically adding bedrooms. Dr. Khan designed the lower level living area and removed a wall, to let in more light from the large daylight windows. The result is magnificent!

The home is approximately 10,000 sq. ft. (with basement), boasts 2 kitchens (1st floor and Lower Level) 7 bedrooms and 9 bathroom.

Features include: marble and hardwood flooring, mud room, housekeepers office, a soaring vaulted kitchen ceiling with cherry beams, cherry built- ins and an abundance of crystal chandeliers from Brechers Lighting.

The 3 daughters were active in selecting the colors for their rooms. I spent hours/days/weeks searching for unique tile for their approval to complement their color selections! Details in their bathrooms include vibrant handmade, hand painted vanity knobs with Swarovski crystals accenting crisp white on white on white vanities.

Floor rated glass tile was sourced to create a marble and glass trellis patterned foyer floor, a very unique feature! Pay special attention to the glass tile throughout. Chances are you will not see such amazing and unique glass tile anywhere else!

Tasnim and I hand selected every item for this home, including specific art quality granite slabs from Granite America, who sent their best installers from Cincinnati Ohio.

In response to the request for contrasting kitchen cabinets with a light feel  and no black the top of the line cabinetry was created by Chris’s  Custom Cabinets with hardwood painted cream cabinetry and cherry island, floors and beams. This design was repeated in the housekeepers or moms room with cream cabinetry and cherry breadboard.

Handmade metallic wallpapers, faux painting and white coffered ceilings keep this home light and airy with a glamorous flair.

My goal was to provide a current  American Home that spoke to the homeowners heritage and tastes while providing long lasting value. A home that is a strong investment and has timeless appeal, for many years to come.

SIGNATURE HOME TO BE UNVEILED IN MAY!

by Martha Wolford on 04/03/14

This  is a very special time for us!

Celebrating our 40th anniversary gives us the perfect time to create a building opportunity unlike any other in this area ... A series of Incredible Signature Homes! As we go through the process of building our Signature Homes, we will be inviting you to view our homes weekly here on our blog. We are just in the beginning stages so my first blog will be showcasing a current home we have under construction.

This amazing 10,000+ square foot home is located in Harrods Glen Owned by Dr. and Mrs Khan, it is truly a showcase home with custom design and detailing throughout. It is a very special home for a very special family. We are excited to unveil this home to the public in May so check back for Open House dates!

One of the outstanding custom details in this home is the tile selected for each of the 9 bathrooms. You will not see tile like this in any other home in the Louisville area!

This combination of lime green metallic subway tile mixed with white bubbles is a perfect complement to a little girls lime green oasis. We worked hand in hand with each of the 3 daughters to create their own exclusive look. Wait until you see this with lime green walls, white vanities and crystal chandeliers. WOW.

This iridescent crackled glass tile shines with glass turquoise liners and 18 x 18 Carrera field tile on floor AND walls.

The perfect chandelier by Uttermost, was sourced at Brechers Lighting, a Wolford vendor for over 30 years!
